Challenge
Medtronic's cardiac rhythm disease management (CRDM) division is the industry leader in providing long-term health management solutions for people with a broad array of heart rhythm disorders. Preventing sudden death due to arrhythmias and overcoming the long-term risks of non-fatal arrhythmias are critically important issues in cardiac care. Medtronic needed a way to reach their physician audience with up-to-date information on programming and monitoring patients using its latest implantable cardioverter defibrillator device (ICD).
Solution
JPL developed an e-Learning program and an interactive simulation of the ICD programmer to show Medtronic sales staff and prospective physician customers how the upgraded product works. The simulation leads the salesperson or physician through a case study to demonstrate how the ICD can be programmed to improve patient outcomes. The simulation can be used on a computer or on a mobile tablet like an iPad.
